Why we are doing the things we are doing , live updating from editing our videos
We are putting a video behind the underlining video of "reported problems" because if we put it before it is too much information to process. Having the voice over talking about her dad and having video before the underlining makes no sense. And if we have a video before there is not enough time to register the information and read the underline. They work hand in hand and then the video playing at the end of that section is smoother and more logical.
The clips we were working with were long and it was difficult selecting small parts of it from the event library. We had lots of footage because we filmed many takes and kept the camera rolling to catch everything.
We put the handheld videos in its entirety first and then cut it after watching it with the before and after video to see how it fit and how long we wanted it. This is before we have filmed the narration . We have kept the sound on the handheld videos so far just so we do not write it out completely when we put the narrator on.
possible cut section of end
we showed less of the pin board part where the pictures were extremely dark because there is nothing on the pictures that shows up on camera so it makes no sense to show it.
we cut out me saying "hi" because we felt as it wasn't completely sitting. so we added the "guys say hi part"
there is a section of the pinboard panning where its just plain pin board. we cut this out and added video of me and alisha because are pictures were shown just before that. so it would make sense to have footage of us .
the clips doing onto the video is live. so the panning camera keeps panning and the handheld videos go ontop of that. thats why the match on action is not
we decided top get rid of about 7 seconds of the boy holding the paper because we felt like it was unnaturally prolonged and did not fit or have purpose. there was not suspense it was just dead air.
upon watching our video again, we noticed that at the starting the transition between him sitting at the desk and him opening the folder was not smooth at all, the sound was choppy as there was a very short break in the natural sound of the video . in the mock up we used a clip where he was leaning back so there was match on action because it was a fluid motion of him leaving back and him moving hids hand and sound was not an issue in this, however we didn't want to use that clip because in the one we have chosen now he moves about in his chair, showing he is tired and restless, so to fix our problem here we cut the end of the clip off to mis out the disruption of the sound so it merges better.
in the bit where he underlines "reported problems " he underlined it too slow. and if we extended the video to its original length he miss draws the line. and we did not retake because he used a ink pen!@! so, we cut it before he misslined and slowed the video to 85% of its original speed . it is now 2 seconds . from 1.7s.
we tried putting another clip of him watching the videos at the end, to sandwich it and push along the video so when the mobile ring came on the song has gone quiet so you could hear it and also because as of now our video is 1:43 seconds. but we did not like it as it made no sense of for him to watch the videos, pick out the pictures and pin them up and then go back to watching, so we did not leave that there and thought of other ways to prolong the video. Alisha thought of changing the video speed to 90% when it was panning over the pinboard. this made the video an extra 5 seconds long. and because it was just panning of stationary object and the panning was fairly steady and slow in the first place tis looked okay. We then did that to all off the clips after the first shot of him watching videos . We did not do that to the handheld clips . So the video went from 1.47 sec to 1.51s
