Fonts

Font research and choice

The task was to make a title sequence so a lot of time was put into the font. Although we had an idea of what we wanted for our piece as a group, it took time because we had to search for just the right one. And not a font attached to any other brands or movies.

With some searching we decided to use a
free font we sourced online called
"Gurmukhi MT", which looks like this:

We picked this font because it was clean and simple to read but also strong. Its sophistication emphasise's the seriousness of the situation that you are given at the start of the movie. Someone missing is a serious issue, and I feel as though this font comes along with that.

Block and simple fonts like these are usually used in movies of the detective/crime/mystery genre, for example, 2008 "Taken" is a movie about a mans daughter going missing and him having to get her back. The font used for this movie is similar in that it is block, easy to read and sophisticated.
And in the 2014 film "Gone girl" where again, a mans daughter goes missing and he must find her. The font is bold, simplistic, simple. Like an exit sign, or something that must be read.
